Amit and Brijesh started a business with initial investments in the ratio of 12 : 11 and their annual profits were in the ratio of 4 : 1. If Amit invested the money for 11 months, then for what time Brijesh invested the money?

A) 9 months

B) 3 months

C) 5 months

D) 10 months

Correct Answer:
B) 3 months

Description for Correct answer:

Let investment of Amit = 12x
And investment of Brijesh = 11x
Let Bijesh invested the money for Y months.
Then

Amit's investment : Brijesh's investment
= (12x X 11) : (11x X y) = 132x : 11xy
= 12 : y

So \( \Large \frac{12}{y} = \frac{4}{1} \) [so ratio of profit is 4 : 1]

= > 4y = 12

So y = \( \Large \frac{12}{4} \) = 3 months

Hence, Brijesh invested money for 3 months.
