In a business partnership among A, B, C and D, the profit is shared as follows :

\( \Large \frac{A's share}{B's share} \) =\( \Large \frac{B's share}{C's share} \) = \( \Large \frac{C's share}{D's share} \) = \( \Large \frac{1}{3} \)

If the total profit is Rs. 4,00,000/-, the share of C is :

A) Rs. 21,12,500/-

B) Rs. 1,37,500/-

C) Rs. 90,000/-

D) Rs. 2,70,000/-

E) None of these

Correct Answer:
C) Rs. 90,000/-

Description for Correct answer:
Given A : B = 1 : 3, B : C = 1 : 3, C : D = 1 : 3

Then

A : B : C : D = 1 x 1 x 1 : 3 x 1 x 1 : 3 x 3 x 1 : 3 x 3 x 3

= 1 : 3 : 9 : 27

Let the profits of A, B, C and D are x, 3x, 9x and 27x respectively.

Hence, Partnership of

C = \( \Large \frac{9}{1 + 3 + 9 + 27} \) x 400000

= \( \Large \frac{9}{40} \) x 400000 = Rs. 90000/-
