Number of items sold and percentage of items returned by the customers over the months in two different shops

The total number of items returned by the customers to Shop A in August and October together was approximately what percent more than the total number of items returned by the customers to Shop B in September and October together ?

A) 46

B) 32

C) 67

D) 51

E) 42

Correct Answer:
D) 51

Description for Correct answer:
The total number of items returned by the customers to shop A in August and October together = 580 x \( \Large \frac{15}{100} \) + 550 x \( \Large \frac{4}{100} \)

= 87 + 22 = 109

The total number of items returned by the customers to shop B I September and October together = 540 x \( \Large \frac{10}{100} \) + \( \Large \frac{360 x 5}{100} \)

= 54 + 18 = 72

Required percentage = \( \Large \frac{109 - 72}{72} \) x 100 = 51%
