A man had 170 currency notes in all, some of which were of Rs.100 denominations and some of Rs.50 denominations. The total amount of all these currency notes was Rs.10000. How much amount did he have in the denominations of Rs.50?
Correct Answer: Description for Correct answer:
Let the number of Rs.50 notes = x.
and the number of Rs.100 notes = \( \Large \left(170 - x\right) \)
According to the question,
\( \Large 50x+100 \left(170-x\right)=10000 \)
=> \( \Large x+2\{ 170-x \}=200 \)
=> \( \Large x+340-2x = 200 \)
=> \( \Large -x=200-340= -140 \)
=> x = 140
Therefore, Required amout = \( \Large Rs.50 \times 140 \) = Rs.7000
