A money lender lends a part of a sum of Rs. 8000 at 5% interest and the rest at 7% interest. If the total annual interest received on the sum at the end of a year is Rs.450, how much did he lend at 7% interest?
Correct Answer: Description for Correct answer:
Let the money lent at 5% and 7% interest be x and 8000 - x.
Interest received = \( \Large \frac{PNR}{100} \)
\( \Large \frac{x*1*5}{100}+\frac{ \left(8000-x\right)*1*7 }{100}=450 \)
or \( \Large \frac{2x}{100}=110 or x = Rs.5500 \)
Therefore, the money lent at 7% = (8000 - x) = 8000 - 5500 = Rs.2500
