In a class of 40 students and 5 teachers, each student got sweets that are 15% of the total number of students and each teacher got sweets that are 20% of the total number of students. How many sweets were there?

Description for Correct answer:
Number of sweets received by every student

= 15% of 40 = \( \Large \frac{40 \times 15}{100} \) = 6

Therefore, Number of sweets received by 40 students

= 40 X 6 = 240

Number of sweets received by each teacher

= 20% of 40 = \( \Large \frac{40 \times 20}{100} \) = 8

Number of sweets received by 5 teachers

= 8 x 5 = 40

Therefore, Total number of sweets = 240 + 40 = 280
