The height and base of a triangle are equal to the length and breadth of a rectangle respectively. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 86m and the difference between its length and breadth is 5m, what is the area of' the triangle ? (in m2)
Correct Answer: Description for Correct answer:
Let the length of rectangle be l m and breadth be b m
According to question,
l - b = 5 --- (i)
Perimeter of rectangle = \( 2 \left(l+b\right)=86 \)
l + b = 43 --- (ii)
On soling equations (i) and (ii) we get,
l = 24 m
b = 19 m
Height of triangle = Length of rectancle = 24 m
and base of triangle = Breadth of reftangle = 19m
Area of triangle= \( \frac{1}{2} \times 19 \times 24 = 228 m^{2} \)
