# A train runs for 3 hr at the speed of 40 Km/hr and then for $$4\frac{1}{2}h$$ at the speed of 60 Km/hr. Thus it covers 3/5 th part of the whole distance. It wants to cover the remaining distance in 4 h, find the average speed of the train for remaining distance.

 A) 45 Km/hr B) 35 Km/hr C) 80 Km/hr D) 65 Km/hr

 D) 65 Km/hr

Let total distance = x
Now, according to the question,
$$40 \Large \times 3 + 60 \times 4.5 = \frac{3x}{5}$$

= > $$\Large 120 +270 = \frac{3x}{5}$$
x = $$\Large \frac{390 \times 5}{3}$$= 650km

Remaining distance = $$\Large \left( 650 - \frac{3 \times 650}{5} \right)$$
= 650 - 390 = 260 km.

Required average speed = 260/4 = 65 Km/hr
