In the following question two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and Give answer
I. \( \Large x^{2} \) + 9x + 18 = 0
II. \( \Large y^{2} \) - 13y + 40 = 0
A) x > y
B) x \( \Large \geq \) y
C) x < y
D) x \( \Large \leq \) y
Correct answer:
C) x < y
Description for Correct answer:
I. \( \Large x^{2} \) + 9x + 18 = 0
=> \( \Large x^{2} \) + 6x + 3x + 18 = 0
=> x ( x + 6 ) + 3 ( x + 6 ) = 0
=> ( x + 3 )( x + 6 ) = 0
=> x = -3 or -6
II. \( \Large y^{2} \) - 13y + 40 = 0
=> \( \Large y^{2} \) - 8y - 5y + 40 = 0
=> y ( y - 8 ) - 5 ( y - 8 ) = 0
=> ( y - 5 )( y - 8 ) = 0
=> y = 5 or 8
